The wind goes silent,
The court turns static;
All the spectators eyeing on the one
Looking magnificent like the sun,
Ready to sprinkle all around his magic.

Standing handsome and tall like a tree
With sunken cheeks and insert eyes,
Rolling the rackets in his strong hands
Which also acts as helping wands,
Ever trying to cherish the orphan lives.

The splendid forehands and backhands,
The imposing aces that he serves,
No wonder people never miss out to admire
His persona and his unique attire.
After the exuberant win, the extols he receives,
He definitely deserves.

The name, fame and game in the tennis world;
Neither did one have, nor will anyone do.
Roger Federer forever will continue
To compose his brilliant game tunes,
As the FedEx saga continues…

I look back to that day

When I wore a million dollar smile,

Devoid of world's wretches and miseries

In the blanket of cherished merry moments.

Swirling-twisting was I

Diving in the ocean of satisfactory susceptibilities,

Only when I did grow up to be old

Realized the existing surrounding to be substituted.

My glories drenched in the tears of pain

Happiness expunged from the book of memories

Flame of joy lighting no more than a dead man's life,

Leaving behind a destructive silence.

But still, with a hope taking birth somewhere

In the dreams of black and white universe,

For the dispersion of colours all around me,

I look ahead for that day.

There are some moments in life we never forget and also those we never even noticed as special!!!....What seemed so important for us yesterday at that particular day,at that situation,that particular moment,today doesn't even qualify as a precious thought.

I come from basically a small town, Udupi, that is still waking up, to be a part of the process what we call as "India Shining".I was very fortunate to have very good accessibility to every transport facility available there as i live in a place that is located very near to the national highway....NH-17.
Back in my school days, crossing road was a very important thing as the highway is always plied by various vehicles of every type,keeping it busy during my waking hours. I crossed highway every time I needed to catch the school bus. It was a weird thing for me..a time when my small world of family,teachers and chocolate friends merged with the worlds of sooo many people's worlds.Even a slight lapse on my part could have ended my world right there in the midst of everything.....

I really don't remember, the first time I crossed it all by myself but I still remember the feeling.I was proud of myself, to be able to take care of myself (at least that is what I believed at that time!!)to be able to do an adult thing.It kind of gave me a feeling that I after all this time am able to judge between the RIGHT and the WRONG/LEFT( however small it may be).

Come to think of it now, i hardly regard crossing road as important.Sometimes even encouraging my friend to zoom past the police or jump the traffic light.It is an irony after all.My world....is it getting bigger as I am growing up after all???I am in a very crucial year with respect to my career and the time has come, to cross roads once again...to choose which is RIGHT and what should be LEFT behind....

Raju said with Paulo Coelho's new 'Eleven Minutes' clutched in his hand, staring at the store keeper.

"Boss! I bring books to make a living, how can I sell it to you at a price that I bought it for ?"

Questioned back the keeper while his helper boy looked the other way.

"Everything is fair,If this book was original he'd have blindly given 300 Rs, and you know its

pirated right ? its ok! its a straight deal! First you asked 150 and now you are asking 70! Quite

flexible you are, no problem, give it for 50!" Arun added, who stood beside Raju.

"Atleast 60 boss" he persisted!

"50 is final" Raju finalized.

"Ok! take it!" came the words with a sigh.

Raju pulled out a note of 50 Rs and gave it to keeper and both Raju and Arun started walking away.

After they covered few hundred yards, shopkeeper turned to his helper and grinned " Idiots man! I bought all these books for just 25 Rs and I still made 100% profit".

And hundred yards away Arun started grinning, "Why do you laugh?" Raju asked!. Arun pulled out one more book from his bag and said " I flicked this when you were arguing.. He He! We cost him 50 more bucks man!"

Heal the world

Though his hands held crutches tight,
with the prosthetic was his leg in constant fight.
Screws and the metal rings tried to poke through his flesh,
Every time he took a step, he felt if his wounds were still fresh.

He inched forward, with sweaty hands, a sigh and a moan,
The road seemed more rough, much longer and grown.
He rested for a while, but he was afraid to close his eyes,
If he did so, all he saw was a shoe dipped in blood red dyes.

Not long ago, when he used to walk really fine,
He had been to market, for a ring for his mother of gold with a shine.
Right then from his right, he was struck with intense pulse of light,
Followed by an explosion, flying metal, torn clothes then entered his sight.

Never-heard cries, never-seen sight, a scent which he never had to smell,
Just then something hit his leg, a blade or may be a peg, with eyes closed to the ground he fell.
Wobbling sounds of ambulance, woke him from his sleep,
He felt pain near his leg, very acute and surely deep.
Opening his eyes, all he saw was, blood filled jean with a shoe half burnt,
Familiar though, it took little time for him to accept that its his leg that lay in front.

He sighed again and tried to take a step, and when he was about to fall,
Someone caught him by his arms, fair and handsome, but not very tall.
"I'd Love to help you" He said raising and marking his face with a smile,
"Thanks a lot" said he and stopped, but his heart continued to thank him to length of nile.

As they crossed the road, they shared equally uninterrupted silence,
To brake the same, the hurt said "Bastards! Muslims ! I lost my leg to their violence!"
The other smiled and said "To heal this world, we need to infect it with love",
"Every human has this answer, and they blindly search it in flying white dove".

The limp lost the balance and landed his crutch on the helper's feet,
Helper didn't cry, neither did he shout, he looked back with a smile so sweet.
"It's fake! I lost mine in last blast, It'll take time for your wound to heal",
"I'll pray in god that he helps you, as I too am aware of that feel".

He turned and started walking away, while azan* began in a mosque not so distant,
He wasn't out of sight, when he took out a topi and wore it on head in an instant.
The azan went on and it mixed with worldly noises,
He walked further and farther and disappeared in different, yet familiar crowd of faces.

*azan : prayer call for muslims

To be or not to be? So said Shakespeare she thought. Would it be okay? Would it be a mistake? Was that a compliment? Or just a bland observation? Is he just flirting? Or is he actually concerned? Was that a touch knowing or unknowing? Does he find me attractive? Maybe he didn’t even notice the new earrings! Am I in love? Or this just a phase in this pathetic routine I call life? Miserable as she was haunted by thoughts that would disturb the mighty Lord himself, she put on a nonchalant air about her, confidently joining him as they made their way towards their favorite spot in the sleepy little town.
The sun had already risen but the misty morning air refused to wake up the surroundings. Dawn had just set in and he seemed busy contemplating the flora n fauna than anything to do with her.
Splendid nature awaited her praises but she only waited for his attention. As they sat beside each other in that picturesque setting excruciating minutes passed with nil conversation. Finally she threw caution to the winds and rested her aching head on his inviting shoulders and closed her eyes savoring the moment of bliss.
But to her astonishment and wonder his right arm enclosed her tiny frame in an awkward but sure motion. In that second the universe stopped as realization hit. They were in love…… :)

Its 2am in the morning. You're on the tenth floor of a building. Working away late into the night on your laptop. Alone in your bedroom. Sitting on the bed, feeling cold. You're tired, stressed, hungry. Abandoning the laptop, you walk over to your table, rummage in your bag. You find a chocolate, a whole bar of dark chocolate- unopened, uneaten. You take a bite and you savor the bitter-sweet taste of it, its relishing. You reach over and pull up the curtains. Its dark outside, but only just. You can see the orange glow of the street lights below, tiny specks of light shining through the numerous windows of the many buildings around- like stars suspended in mid-air. Speaking of stars, you look up at the sky- its hardly visible. Finishing the chocolate, you venture out of your room. There's no one around. Gathering courage (even though your heart is inevitably beating faster and you are scared) you climb the stairs, 2, 3, 4 storeys higher and you reach the terrace door. You push it open and walk in. Its cold up there. Very cold. Chilling. You're in your pajamas, no blazer, no sweater. You start shivering. You look up at the sky. Its clear, its black (not pitch-black though) and the stars are numerous but not innumerable. Countable maybe; you think. You look at the moon. Its bright and thin. Like those perfectly shaped nails just cut with a nailcutter (the crescent shape). Strange, you wonder. The comparison.You stare at the sky, start counting the stars. And then you see it!!. Right where you are looking. A Shooting Star!! Very bright, suddenly materializing from nowhere. Its big at first, rapidly descending, leaving a trail behind and reducing in size until it disappears- suddenly just like it appeared.You silently make a wish. Someday, maybe years later, you realize the wish has come true. And then you think of that night- the room, the chocolate, the cold, the terrace, the Shooting Star..!!

A clear sky, just before sunset (early dusk), tall trees all around, Gulmohar, Banyan and the like, ground covered with grass and those red-yellow petals from the gulmohar, big rocks lying hear and there and to complete the perfection, a brook noisily running over all kinds of pebbles: big, small; smooth, rough; brown, green; round, oval;(every kind imaginable). The water is crystal clear.

There's a cool breeze..You wander into this place, barefoot. You can feel the grass, the softness and the gentle coolness of it; you here the chirping of birds (given the hour, there's a lot of it), you reach out and touch one of the trees, the bark is cold, damp; you look up and spot a nest on one of its lower branches- its beautiful. Maybe there are eggs in it, maybe there aren't. Your hand smells like the damp earth just after a seasons first rain. You walk around, picking up those red petals and the rare complete flower fallen from the Gulmohar. The breeze ruffles your hair, ever so gently.

You sit on one of those rocks, just by the brook and dawdle your hands in the water: its refreshingly cold; you splash it on your face- its chilling and yet strangely relaxing. You can hear the crock of frogs somewhere in the distance. The reddish sky is stretched overhead like some tight canvas roof of a tent full of trees and grass and birds and flowers and pebbles and brooks. You can see the setting sun on the horizon. Its tranquil. You sit there, alone, contented, at peace with the world. And then you spot her. A deer, cautiously approaching the brook, right opposite to you, Golden, with dark spots, light and agile. Those eyes, those black eyes, they stare at you. You sit there- motionless, breathless. She comes closer, bends, drinks from the brook. She's so near, you can almost smell her. Having finished, she straightens, another of those stares and then she's off, leaping. You keep looking until she has disappeared over the horizon. PICTURE PERFECT.

Life at 100Kmph

The battery was gone. I had to kick start the engine. The engine came to life. Raised the throttle. Engine revving the gun silencer of the bike made an enormous hissing sound. Sound made the kids around me move away from their game of cricket on the road and fix their eyes on the beast with two wheels.

In a very thoughtful movement my left leg pushed the gear lever down and in that moment my body was armed with a power of 225cc engine. Even though the bike was two year old, the bike showed off remarkable robustness. With all the skill mastered by years of riding experience, I released the clutch simultaneously increasing the throttle. The bike galloped for about 2 meters and involuntarily my left foot made an upward move. With a split second precision the clutch engaged, throttle lowered, gear shifted, clutch released, throttle raised. And as if there was no time to waste, as soon as the needle pointed 6x1000 rpm the gear shifted. The bike transformed itself to a lightning bolt hissing all its way. In less than 6 seconds the bike was zooming at 80kmph. Soon as I reached the straight stretch of road right in front of my college the bike was ripping at 100kmph. At this speed all the convulsions, confusions in the mind seemed to vanish. The mind became pellucid as if it never were, as though I was born few seconds before. There is no room for dilemma in the mind.

At this breakneck speed mind thought faster and deeper than it ever did. Every doubt getting thrashed in side the walls of the mind, the dark grey clouds of the distress getting cleared and giving a view of a pellucid conscience. Every thought rejuvenating, mind rejoicing. The hawk eye turned, relaying the optical signals to brain at its most efficient speed, on a lookout for any possible obstruction. The palm suddenly became sweaty. The wind cheated and I was wearing, flapping against the wind. Eyes did not dare even for a nano second blink, gauging the entire of stretch of road ahead in a flash. The face pretended to maintain the reserve and poise. Every nerve, every muscle was on red alert to dodge any obstacle. One could feel the rise in the mercury inside the helmet coz of the increased pumping of the blood. The ear pinnate grew red, scalp sweat. Nose tip grew cold. Every bone clamped to each other maintaining a posture to pierce through the wind. Entire body was warm with hot blood gushing in its veins. Heart thumped faster with every little movement in the speedometer needle rightwards, the heart beats resonated with the silencer sound. In no time, as if you have apparated from the start to the end of the road, you find yourself gazing at the end of the road. Without even a conscious effort the left hands engaged with the clutch while the right hands deployed the disc break, the left leg worked the gear lever, the right leg stamped the rear break pedal. And suddenly you find that its not the end of the road, its just a bend in the road. The body swaying itself to bend the vehicle to the required angle to keep myself from falling, straightening up I see one more stretch of road. And I went again gears shifting throttle raising. The life at its best, the life at 100kmph.

Placard Of Placement

In the season of job recruitments, I think its wise for placement cell of our college, to take their sign board shouting "Placements" off. The reason to be stated is quite simple. For the last month placement cell of our college has been the hottest and busiest place in the campus. And a big bunch of students always green near the cell can easily make out a P for placements with their hands and legs stretched!.

The funniest thing I noticed about placements is, the guy who is supposed to be the cream of the placements procedure is pushed down the stack!. ( I am not talkin about myself (neither am I saying that I am very much intelligent! ( may be a little I am))). And every morning the procedure for placements is simple. Wake up, head down for break fast as always the mess is closed, and try justifying quality of idlis and versus the amount we pay for it. And head back to placement cell with an orange belt.. sorry tag with an ID card hanging around your neck. And wait till _time+2 hrs where _time is the time mentioned in the placement notice board.

And just before you are frustrated and are about to leave the cell cursing the placement, they appear suddenly from thin air!. Everytime the vehicle is same ( INNOVA) and only the colour keeps changing ( company has found an efficient transportation media to stuff their workers in :) ). Now that they have already made you wait for 1 1/2 hour, 1 more hour doesn't matter to them. The crowd then blind steps towards the auditorium. Every one knows where they sat last time and they take their respective positions ( this has become a routine).

Then follows the lame, volume less, energy less, hardly humorous, little understandable, unheard presentation by HRs of most of the teams. They try their level best to portrait how big their pond is and how many fishes dwell in it. At the end of presentation only thing that matters to everyone is HOW much space do they get in that pond. Most of the people are just bothered of getting placed. SOMEHOW, SOMEWHERE!. Sad to say I too became one ( convincing family can be little tricky ).

And the mob diverts towards the PS block and everyone is on run to get the last seat in the drawing hall( even though everyone knows that they can't copy and will not). Once seated you can't help your mind wonder what will be thrown at you that day. Then comes the question paper and irony is as follows. The distributor keeps the question paper in front of you and shouts " Please don't look at question paper" I mean, are they testing our loyalty or what ?.

And when you do open the question paper, in the name of aptitude, they ask you to calculate logarithm of shuffled variables, re-invent the algeabric maths, and count number of numbers divisible both by 2,3 and not 5! Not just that, some completely insane and useless questions are put forth to test your level of craziness ( there were of course few questions which made a lot of sense). As if this job wasn't already in mud, they (Mys**t trac) start outsourcing aptitude? same old questions repeated over time and again. I got them all printed in my mind after I wrote it thrice!. Somehow, you are tested on the basis of how much you can remember of what you have read in last two weeks. They don't give a damn to that stud who has created wonders and done a marvellous project in Perl and has scored 60 in engg. The fact is they just don't let you in and they never get to see that you are really that brilliant!.
